Nikki Haley came out in support for Israel. She attacked fellow candidate Vivek Ramaswamy, who said in an interview that he wished to cut aid to the nation after 2028.
A quiet day for Haley.
Tonight was the first 2024 Republican debate. Haley was joined by seven other candidates in Milwaukee, though Donald Trump elected not to join.
You can find my summary here.
On the economy, Haley called out Republicans for overspending. She said that the party isn’t honest enough about it and that they’re the ones passing spending acts. She pointed out that Trump, Mike Pence, Tim Scott and Ron DeSantis passed those acts.

She wants to push for contraceptive use, adoption, and the ability of medical professionals to perform an abortion. Haley does not believe there’s Congressional support to pass a federal ban. She doesn’t want to jail women for abortion.
On Donald Trump, Haley said that she trusts the American people to decide. She said that Pence did the right thing by certifying the 2020 results.
On foreign policy, Haley came out swinging for both Israel and Palestine. This was the issue that she was most passionate about. She let loose on Ramaswamy about his perceived lack of foreign policy credentials. He is less happy about financially supporting Israel and Ukraine. Haley stated that a win for Russia is a win for China.
On education, Haley wants more vocational lessons in schools. Parents need more say and we need to get kids reading. She also wants more innovation and trans women not to be performing with women in sports.
In her closing statement, Haley first talked about her husband’s year-long deployment. She said if soldiers want to support America from abroad, then people should protect America at home.
Trump headed to Fulton County Jail, where his mugshot was taken and released.
Meanwhile, Haley enjoyed a post-debate bump in the polls. One saw her ratings jump from 5% to 11%, putting her third behind Trump and DeSantis.
Another saw Haley come third best in the debate behind DeSantis and Ramaswamy. This same poll saw the least amount of people say that Haley had the worst debate. Around 30.2% of voters said that they were considering her before the debate, that jumped to 46.7% afterwards- the largest jump.
The Haley campaign saw its best day of fundraising according to the campaign, as well as a rise in social media views and traffic to her website.
Haley predicted that President Biden won’t finish his term, and that Vice President Harris will take over.
Polls showed Haley on 3.9%.
Haley commemorated the two year anniversary of the 13 US Marines killed in Afghanistan.
Haley warned about the risks of a Kamala Harris presidency and that a vote for Biden could be a vote for Harris, on account of Biden’s age.
It was a solid week for Haley, as she came out well following the debate. She seemed to do the best, at least according to polling, or at least didn’t do the very worst. Considering Trump wasn’t at the event, it’s a good bit of advertising for Haley and her campaign. Let’s see how she does in future debates.
