Join our live election coverage stream at 7:00 eastern tonight as we cover key primaries in Florida and New York, as well as two special elections in upstate New York. You can find all the results live here at Elections Daily.

In Florida, Democrats have a competitive race for Governor – at least according to some polls. Rep. and former Governor Charlie Crist has led the race in most polls, but a handful have shown Agriculture Commissioner Nikki Fried close or ahead. Regardless of the result, some pollsters will have egg on their face, but we’re inclined to think Crist is favored here. Democrats also have an open primary in CD10, which is being vacated by incumbent Val Demings to run for Governor. The Democratic establishment and progressives have consolidated behind newcomer Maxwell Frost, but controversial ex-representative Alan Grayson is putting up a fight. On the Republican side, keep an eye on the primary in CD11; incumbent Daniel Webster has trailed far-right Laura Loomer in fundraising, but there’s been no polling in this senior-heavy district.

In New York, Democrats have an open field in the newly-drawn CD10, where establishment-backed Daniel Goldman appears to have an edge. In CD12, which new takes in both the Upper East Side and Upper West Side, two powerful Democrats are facing off: Jerry Nadler has a solid polling advantage over Carolyn Maloney here according to most polls. In CD17, Sean Patrick Maloney faces a primary challenge from progressive State Senator Alessandra Biaggi, angered over Maloney’s initial decision to run in a primary against Mondaire Jones. Republicans also have key primaries, including in the open CD01. The most important is likely in CD23, where incumbent Chris Jacobs is retiring following a backlash over his support for an assault weapons ban. New York GOP Chair Nick Langworthy faces off against Carl Paladino, the 2010 Republican nominee for Governor and a notoriously controversial figure; most recently, Paladino called for the execution of Attorney General Merrick Garland, a comment he later claimed was a joke. Two congressional districts have special elections as well: CD19, a narrow Biden seat vacated by Antonio Delgado, pits Republican Marc Molinaro against Democrat Pat Ryan, while CD23 is a very safe Republican seat vacated by disgraced ex-Rep. Tom Reed. Republicans are favored in both, but if Molinaro loses or CD23 surprisingly close, it could be another indication of a shifting national environment offering a glimmer of hope for Democrats.
