The latest episode of The Map Room is out on Old Bull TV, and it’s a big one! This week, Eric Cunningham (@decunningham2), Jared Stone (@JStonePolitics), and Nick Morris (@TossupReport) continues its series on Texas. Continuing from the previous episode on Houston, this episode focuses on the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Over 7.5 million people live in the greater Dallas area, with over 2.6 million living in Dallas County proper. Alongside Houston, this area has seen a rapid shift to the Democratic party in recent years.
Republicans once dominated in Dallas County, but it has become increasingly Democratic since 2004. It gave over 60% of the vote to Hillary Clinton in 2016. The surrounding counties have also seen shifts. Tarrant County, home to Fort Worth, has become competitive, while Collin and Denton have seen rapid growth. The exurbs, however, remain strongly Republican. Some of these counties have even seen a rightward shift since 2004!
