Nikki Haley was back criticising China today. She said the following on a morning interview with CNBC:
“China is our number one national security threat, we to start treating them like that. No more allowing them to buy U.S. soil, and get back what they’ve already taken. They’re doing it near military installations, it’s a threat… No more passing fentanyl across the border, they know exactly what they are doing. We need to make sure we deal with the cartels and we deal with China.
If you look at Yellen’s conversation she said well, ‘It shouldn’t be a winner take all scenario, we should play by the rules.’ To even say that means you don’t understand China. China only plays with a winner take all scenario. They’ve never played by the rules. They don’t see us as a competitor, they see us as an enemy. This is the biggest threat we’ve had since Pearl Harbor.”
“I spoke to 400 CEOs last summer and I said, ‘If China pulls the rug out from under us tomorrow, will you be ready?’ Every company needs to have a plan B. The way America needs to look at it is just through a national security lens. Are we ready?”
“That’s the problem, too many people are thinking about the dollars and cents. Are you still going to be thinking about the dollars and cents, do you still think about the dollars and cents knowing that China has now put a military installation in Cuba?”

Haley was in Manchester, New Hampshire. She held a roundtable in conjunction with Freedom Movement New Hampshire and former state representative Victoria Sullivan. The topic was the huge problem with fentanyl addiction and overdoses. America has seen a huge problem with fentanyl. It is an opioid used for pain management. For years, drug companies pushed the product onto doctors, who were in turn in the dark about its true effects. The excellent miniseries Dopesick covers this, though it talks about the similar drug Oxycodone. Fentanyl is actually stronger than Oxycodone. It can be mixed with heroin and cocaine, increasing its risk. You can read about fentanyl here.
Haley wants to focus on China, the source of a lot of fentanyl along with Mexico. The Department of Justice has announced charges against Chinese firms and executives who have manufactured fentanyl.
She also attended town halls in Barrington and Hollis.

The Iowa GOP hosted a Lincoln Dinner in Des Moines, which Haley attended. She criticised the Republican Party for not doing enough to stop the debt and mass spending. You can watch the entire thing here.

Haley attacked China and said that they need to deal with them ‘as the threat they are.’
China was in Haley’s line of attack this week. She’s promoting herself as standing up to Xi Jingpin and his regime, especially regarding their influence on the USA. Joe Biden was also a target. On the domestic front, Haley criticised Republican spending.
Haley seems to be gunning hard on foreign policy, with domestic issues taking a backseat. She’ll need to balance it well- voters will surely focus more on what’s going on at home. With the cost of living soaring, Haley needs to make a strong case on how she’ll improve lives in the USA. Nevertheless, a potential President must prove their foreign policy credentials and that is certainly what she’s doing.
