The latest episode of The Map Room is out on Old Bull TV! This week, Eric Cunningham (@decunningham2), Jared Stone (@JStonePolitics), and Nick Morris (@TossupReport) discuss the state of Minnesota, a state that has been competitive for decades but hasn’t voted Republican for president since 1972.

In many ways, Minnesota’s swing in 2016 was comparable to that of Arizona. The state voted to the right of the country, in fact, for the first time since 1952. However, most reputable election forecasters list Minnesota as either Leans or Likely Democratic for the 2020 election. The state is projected to have several competitive congressional races, however. The Cook Political Report lists MN-07 as a Tossup and MN-02 as Leans Democratic, while Ilhan Omar faces a potentially competitive primary in MN-05.

As always, a wide variety of election maps help show some of the major shifts that have occurring in the Land of 10,000 Lakes. Eric, Jared, and Nick help explain some of the state’s surprising shifts at the congressional level as well as how the state might change after it loses a congressional district in 2022. Additionally, new microphones provide our best audio quality yet. You don’t want to miss this in-depth guide on this fascinating state!
